  1. This is very interesting method, I never tried it before but will do it right away to see how it is working.

  2. put your awesome tip to work already and replied to a tweet that related to a blog entry on my post. One note – Needed to use tinyurl.com to shorten my link… seems like this is a common need for many people.

  3. Hi Tom,
I forgot to let you know that I posted a reference to this after watching tactic 2 on my facebook page.

Also I noticed that a recent blog on twttrbogs got a lot of response…is there a tactic that would use that with your program to build even more traffic and followers? Mary

  4. Hey Tom,
As a slow techie, you are giving me the resources and crtitcal thinking that will dramactically improve my IT marketing.

    This is very cool.

  5. Excellent video!

I don’t know which aspects of Twitter your new software will “automate,” so I won’t comment on that – except to say that, since the social atmosphere of Twitter is of a very personal nature, one has to be careful the “automation” process doesn’t become glaringly obvious to individuals AND the community at large. That often happens when attempting to automate other promotional media – for example, autoresponder emails containing “%%FIRSTNAME_FIX%%” tags which show up in the email received by the recipient.

Your excellent advice in this video is well taken! It really enables us to capitalize on the ability of Twitter to transition from the traditional “push” philosophy of promotion and advertising, to the more effective “attraction” method of marketing – communicating ONLY with people who have ALREADY expressed an interest in the area your product/service is related to.

That way you don’t end up “trying to sell pork sandwiches in Jerusalem (or Riyadh)!”

It was mentioned in one of the previous comments, but it bears repeating – for this method to “work” for you, you must first learn to think the same way people in your target market do (true in ALL forms of marketing), but with one CRITICAL twist – instead of figuring out what they’re SEARCHING for, you need to figure out how people express their needs and desires when using Twitter. Using SEO keyword strategies may work to an extent, but not as well as “mastering your market.”

“Marketing” in a nutshell: Find the people who already WANT to buy what you can provide them, and then simply give them a good reason to buy it from you. PERIOD.

Your simple tip about using a question mark in your Twitter search alone is worth more than dozens of other ebooks being sold about “Twitter marketing.” IMHO that’s as important to marketing on Twitter as a squeeze page is to an email autoresponder.

To the commenter(s) who are being “reverse marketed” by other Twitter marketers…

Just because they’re trying to sell YOU something doesn’t mean that THEY don’t necessarily want or need what YOU have to offer. Don’t be too hasty to write them off (”un-follow” them) – unless they become really obnoxious and start to dominate your timeline with THEIR “spam” tweets. Jack has already covered this pretty well in his comment.

The IM niche has become extremely competitive, super-saturated, and it’s populated primarily by people with some of the highest “sales resistance” on the planet (because many of them are able to recognize the particular sales strategies being used. It’s difficult to be perceived as a professional in the IM niche now, and with recent changes in FTC regs concerning “disclosure,” it’s going to become even MORE difficult.

I don’t spend much time with the IM niche anymore, except to learn about new tools and strategies which might apply to marketing in my chosen non-IM niches. When I encounter someone who I think has real ambition and the ability to “think outside the box” a bit, I may attempt to “convert” them by offering to JV with them in one of my other chosen niches – once I’ve gotten to know them and their motivations on a personal one-on-one basis.

  23. Natalie says:

Super tips. Thanks again for revealing most other twitter gurus don’t talk about

  24. Walter Daniels says:

You’re correct in that this is a useful method for using twitter, and “good marketing.” But, it is even better plain old marketing, because it is helping the prospect. You are finding, and solving their need, not yours alone. To that’s where too many “Marketing systems/solutions” go wrong. They only consider the need to sell something, not helping, or filling the needs, of the customer/client. If you forget that, you are not going to succeed for any real length of time.

  25. Cool method, are there more in store? Where can i get it?

  26. angelina says:

    Thanks so much Tom!

By the way… I would love to promote this! Do you have an affiliate program I can join?

  41. Thanks wifey kim. Up til now didn’t really see the value in monetizing Twitter.I’ve been using the search thinggy to get personal training clients/and sell related products thanks to “real-time” marketing. This stuff is awesome! Adding Kim on your last video erace my doubt in taking the next step purcahasing the DVDs. There was an emotional connection ’cause I’m also involve in an interracial relationship! My girlfriend is Russian!

This is a gem and I can see how I can show this method to all my clients, not for affiliate marketing either, but for advertising their individual talents.

Thanks, looking forward to learning more.

  56. Hi Tom, Thanks…I was not aware of the advanced search features you discussed, but I see the method to eliminate the madness. I played with the search for a while and still did not narrow the results enough, but perhaps I need to better define the niche or keywords better before the search.
Great tactic I can work with.

  57. Jay says:

Wow! What a great tactic. I have a product that tells me to build at least 5,000 followers before Twitting affiliate links. Thanks for the tips.

  58. Janet says:

  61. Jack this is genius man. Now if I can only change the Twitosphere by writing great Twitter bio’s and Twitter automated message copy for people that don’t suck. Life would be good. :D

  62. Robin Murray says:

Thanks for these very informative videos. I’ve used a little from each of them over the past few days and have seen some very exciting results.

From using the Search function in Twitter and the keyword suggestions from Google that you showed I was able to get over 60 people to one of the sites that I help with. These people were looking for the exact thing that our company does and we were able to introduce them to our product.

One of the Tweets that I received back was this: “Whoa! I downloaded the demo. The software can recover the files. It will be $99 well spent. Thanks.”

I’m really excited that you shared this info and am looking forward to learning more from you.

    Cheers,
    Robin

  63. AZ says:

    Hi Tom,

In theory your method sounds great… Congrats!

However, since at least two people already pointed out that the “best” method is only bringing in other advertisers instead of customers, how are you planning to circumvent that issue? Or have you already?

    Take Care,

    AZ

  64. Thanks that was a great tip to find people we can be of service to.

Look foirward to more of your tweets

    god bless you and yours

    John

  65. Tom,

Now that I think of it, its so obvious! Why didn’t I think of that.

    Wallace Johnson MBA

  66. Great tip.. I actually just did this very thing last night. Yes, it works well if you put on your target markets’ “thinking cap”.

Figure out what kinds of things they tweet about and search for those keywords.

    Have a great day!

  67. Tom Deeter says:

@simon – Agreed! I like leveraged methods too. In fact, that was what really inspired us to create the software and write the outsourcing guide. We knew that most marketers are like us and don’t mind a few weeks of legwork to get a profitable niche set up but want to move on the the next niche asap. The software allows you to automate the best search and response combinations & the outsourcing guide takes care of the rest.

@social magnet Yep, this is a one-on-one approach but I really don’t think you can compare the activity on Twitter to Yahoo Answers… come on! :)

By the way – our R.A.I.S.E. software can automate the proven search & response combinations and significantly decrease the one-on-one time.

  68. Tactics are good.. if you know the overall strategy..

You need a whole marketing system..

This is a good place, and if you’re on the Fast Track to Web Domination, I can see this being useful

Personally I like more leveraged methods now.. but I can see that for many people it will be a good start

  69. Dave says:

Cool tip! I have spent a lot of time on twitter after so many “guru’s” shout about how the much money they have made there, when really all they were talking about was their huge list transferred to twitter, that they can blast links to without going through email responders. Many thanks, look forward to finding out the other tactics if this is what you are giving away for free. Hope not to many peeps over use (abuse) this

  70. This method rocks! But the only draw back is that you have reply to each questions, which makes the process tedious! This approach is just like using yahoo answers.

  71. Great information off to try it out now!

  72. Bruce says:

These are powerful techniques that I didn’t know about. Tactic 3 is especially valuable for me. I was surprised to see one of my niches full of tweets but the – sign is going to help me find a way around the guys who are dominating.

  73. Lynn Leusch says:

Twitter is certainly the new BIG thing and I hear about it through so many venues but have not been sure how to use it as a socal media to help build a business. You have given me a new understanding on how to use Twitter to help others by offering something they may just need – The are already asking for information and now you have given us a way to give them information that they want without it becoming a spam situation. Thank you for the informative video.

  74. ralph says:

This is the first information that makes any sense to me about Twitter being useful. Now my next problem is what vehicles do I use to make money.

  75. Roy Polite says:

Thank you for the valuable content..keep it coming.

  76. Jenny Rogan says:

Excellent video. I’m way past being bombarded with “sales pitch” and I’m sure I’m not the only one. This is a great way to identify interested people who I can assist with my business and products. Thanks.

  77. Great man, that’s a great tactic. I actually use TweetAdder to search followers on Twitter with keywords related to the product I’m promoting and with the software, I’d send them a tweet with my link asking them if the product I’m providing them would be of any help. So this tactic will definitely fine tune the process I was already using.

    Maurice

  78. Rolf says:

    Hello,

    Thanks for the video!

I guess people are out there looking for a solution to a “problem” they have and if I have a solution for it then it gets much simpler to sell something.

    Best wishes

  79. NeazMH says:

Great info. Seems to be effective.

  80. Kenmon says:

Thanks for the sharing the video, great information! This tatic is very simple, but but very effective. Can’t wait to see the next video.

  81. Thanks for sharing that tip. So simple but so smart…but then “simple” usually IS “the best” in life ,huh? but not always obvious…very cool.

  82. John Arleth says:

I have to say it was the clearest and most informative video that I have seen. I’m looking forward to more and am willing to buy.

Not related. Don’t know these folks and they darn sure don’t know me.

    John

  83. Cartoons Now says:

find other top marketing bloggers – use qualifier – “recommended marketing bloggers”
“best marketing bloggers?” “looking for marketing bloggers to follow”, there is a site called tweetbuyer.com that I just remembered which you can use to find people who are ‘ready to buy’ the product you are offering.

  84. This was great information. I noticed that everyone put short tweets with links and thought “how can anyone possibly make money?” but you have come up with a good answer.

I am going to try this in my niche asap.

    Thanks

  85. Ramit says:

The Best technique does work for some niches. I had discovered it a few weeks back and it works great.

Glad that you are sharing this with everyone. Look forward to the other video’s.

Could you share the search qualifier used to find other top marketing bloggers ?

  86. Tom Deeter says:

@George – Thanks for the compliments! That is indeed the key. You gotta understand the language of your market, not the Google AdWords or PPC keywords.

@Dr Dave – Yes, that is an insightful tip that was not as clear as I’d have liked it to be in the video. One or two little things, like quotes, question marks or the addition of one qualifying word can make a huge difference in what is returned on the TWRP (Tweet Results Page) :)

@Business Entepreneur & @Erin – Yeah, some niches have loads of advertisers just pushing links… and YES, there is a simple way to clean the results up so you don’t have to see the links, it is actually one of our 18 Tactics. we are not giving that Training away officially but look for a video later today that will pretty much give the trick away.

@SCM & @Chris – Sorry about the video issues. We squeezed as much juice out of that video as we could before it got grainy. Hopefully, the next few vids will perform better for you.

  87. Hi Tom,

That was a great video. Shows what you can achieve when you do the searches in the correct context.

Once we are able to get into the minds of the people that are tweeting – then instantly we are able to see a whole new world, just like Jack mentioned earlier.

This applies to most search engines and even software.

Keyword tools are great but nothing beats the human brain and once we start thinking laterally – Kaboom!! or should I say KA Ching !!

Take care and thanks for the insights

    George

  88. Dave Hale says:

    Hey There,

Great info on using Twitter as a research tool to locate our target customers. The same goes with any type of research search online using Boolean methods. The addition of one word, using quotation marks, and question marks will further define and nat=rrow the scope of what a person is looking for.

    Great stuff. Keep it coming.

    Dr Dave Hale
    MThe Internet marketing Professor

  89. Deeter,

thanks for sharing, looking forward to the next video. is there any way to filter out advertisers vs. potential prospects?

seems like Jack H. is on to something about thinking more about what you search for and the terms you use.

  90. George Balija says:

Looks interesting. I will give it a try.

  91. SCM says:

hey, awesome tip … you guys just need to do a higher compression (lower resolution for less bandwidth requirements) on the source file

  92. kailas says:

This seems to be a positve way. Will give it a try. I am sure it works, since twitter is expanding very fast.
    Thanks.

  93. It’s important to note and back up what Tom said above in response to the question of how to use Twitter Search to find valuable information you can capitalize on.

I did the same types of things many will do in the beginning and turned up a bunch of other people trying to sell things on Twitter.

Then I “got it” and started searching like Tom recommends we do. My results were instantly, massively better.

Example: I was trying to find bloggers using Twitter. I typed in things like “blog marketing,” “blog traffic,” “blogging” and got a bunch of people selling things.

Then I changed my search knowing that many bloggers talk about their blogs and even auto-post their latest posts to Twitter.

I typed in “my blog” and got nothing but bloggers. I was floored by how a simple tweak in how I used the search could provide gold instead of junk.

The power is there. You just have to think a bit about how to use Twitter Search and get in the heads of what your target market is Tweeting about – not searching for.

  94. Chris Harris says:

Nice try but the video was so slaow zi fell asleep/…\

  95. I like the strategy, and it seems simple enough,I’m going to try it

  96. Erin says:

I seem to be experiencing the same result as Stephen, all I’m getting with this method are advertisers but no customers.

I’ve tried several different combinations but don’t seem to be able to find one that has potential customers, they are all advertisers.

  97. Frederick says:

Thanks Tom. That info is really cool although at the early stage, the video was choppy for atleast every 4sec. then halfway, transmission was fine. Cheers.

  98. David Steele says:

    Thanks tom and jack,
You have opened a door that alot of us have been looking for in twitter.
    thank you again.
    david

  99. Chuck says:

    Thanks for the best information!

  100. Kaye Dennan says:

Hey, thank you Tom and Jack. Great clear information and will cut right back on getting no where with Twitter.
    Kaye

  101. Nice suggestions.. i will try this one to see what happens.

  102. Hi,
great tip, thank you for that, will go try it out.
    Thanks for all you do
    Gail

  103. @SEOChuck says:

I’m going to go right now to see what people are searching for and try this great idea to see how viable it is in real life.

Thank you for the idea, now to see if it works for my stuff.

  104. money24seven says:

Hi – great tactic – even watching the search type topic on the video – was worth this few minutes of view time – thanks a bunch – looking forwards to seeing the rest of your system – thanks again

    Wilson

  105. It’s amazing to see that so many new things can be implemented around a small thing like Twitter. So far I have not obtained any real benefit from me . May be your program will help us we money searcher.
    Thanks for the tips.
    Hector

  106. Tom Deeter says:

    hey Anna,

yep, you’re exactly right. find out how your market talks about your niche, not how they search for information… and then craft your searches accordingly.

    Tom

  107. Jana says:

Thanks for sharing this tactic, I will put it to use right away!

  108. NoAdwords says:

Thanks for the tips on the operators, I hadn’t discovered them yet.

Can’t wait to see the second video.
    Thanks

  109. Tom Deeter says:

    Hi Stephen,

Thanks for the instant anti-monial :)

Your observation is valid and it kinda explains why we have 4 other search tactics as well as 2 videos dedicated to “Search Psychology” and “Niche Selection”.

When you use all 5 search tactics in The Twitter Method you decrease the “noise” in the search database and isolate (much better than 1%) of the profitable tweets which you can respond to.

I will say, the niches you tested, if you can call them niches, may work great with PPC but there not exactly what folks are talking about on Twitter.

You gotta use this tactic along with keywords related to the niche that people use when talking about it.

Thanks for checking out the video!

    Tom

  110. sounds like a great idea. I will give it a try. I would imagine that for best results you have to choose a popular topic that people are tweeting about and you have to word it correctly.

  111. Stephen says:

    Hi Deeter,

I tried several niche keywords (e.g. weight loss, forex robot) and 99.99% of the results were not eager buyers but advertisers.

Your concept (best + ?) did not identify ANY potential buyers!
